Our Dinners

We hope you had a lovely day of eating and family. Here are some pictures of our own Thanksgivings.

thanksgivingSherry: Oops, I forgot to take a picture before we decimated the table. Okay, so it didn’t quite look like Norman Rockwell’s but it was delicious. IMG_3899So here is our desert! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Who’s shopping tomorrow? If I do it will be online!

Liz: Here’s how gluten-free, dairy-free, meat-free folks eat on photo 2Thanksgiving! (Those are scallops in the baking dish, accompanied by two different kinds of squash, mashed potatoes, salad, hummus and veggies, and a lovely vodka chambord cocktail! For dessert – blueberry and pumpkin pie.

And, the animal feast: Merrick Thanksgiving Dinner!

Barb: That’s okay, Sherry. I forgot to take pictures of dessert. It was spectacular. You’ll just have to take my word for it. Apple pie, mincemeat tartlets, pecan pie and pumpkin bread pudding.

Here’s the main course.

DINNERTurkey, squash and brussels sprouts, turnips, stuffing, mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce and cranberry sauce from a can. (Because it’s important to have both.)

violaturkeyleg2No, we didn’t give the baby a drumstick. Just a little cereal and applesauce, but it was important to mark the occasion.

Edith: Here’s the feast, and the table, too! We had our oldest friends over, and my IMG_3104sons were home, and it was warm and delicious. And the new kitchen and sitting room are done!

I didn’t get a picture of the gorgeous pies, either: pumpkin, squash, apple, and pecan.

IMG_3107Nope, no shopping today, no way. What I need to go is get back to the gym and work some of that food off!

Jessie: We had a lovely day filled with family, friends and food. One of my beloved sisters hosted and, as always, did an outstanding job. In honor of Thanksgivukkah she made Sweet Potato Latkes.

photo 2photo 4We also had an amazing kale, red onion and apple salad. And the desserts included pecan pie truffles. Suffice it to say, no one went home hungry! And, like Sherry, if I do any shopping today it will be online.

JAH dinnerJulie: Chiming in late. Had a wonderful dinner at my sisters. The meal consisted of contributions from all. And like my blog mates, I didn’t take a picture of the desserts, which included a Harvest pie (pear, apple and cranberry made by me), Pecan/bourbon/chocolate pie, fudge and cookies. As is tradition in my thanksgiving prep, one part of the meal was a failure–I tried to make jellied cranberry sauce rather than whole cranberry sauce, and instead got syrup. We used it in cocktails and seltzer instead. A wonderful time was had by all!
