On Wicked Wednesdays, we all weigh in on a topic. It’s been a while since we’ve talked about what books are at the top of our TBR pile. Today, in true summer-reading-on-the-beach fashion, we’re talking about what books are keeping us company on the beach, the couch, in bed, or anywhere else we can grab some reading time. So, Wickeds, tell us – what’re you reading this summer? And the bonus question: Any new-to-you authors you’ve tried and loved, or are in the process of trying?
Liz: I’m guilty of having a few books going at once right now, so here they are by category: 
For self-help, it’s The Tapping Solution by Nick Ortner on the benefits of EFT. I’ve also got The Confidence Code on my nightstand, to try to figure out that age-old question of how to be more confident. Also reading the second Longmire book, Kindness Goes Unpunished. For new authors, I finally got to read a Michael Koryta book, The Prophet. It was fabulous – I will definitely pick up more of his books.
Jessie: Since I’ve been away from my local library all summer I’ve been making a lot of use of the e-books consortium it offers instead. I’ve enjoyed Miss Buncle’s Book by the delightful D.E. Stevenson, dark and disturbing police procedurals by Camilla Lackberg and Karin Fossum. I can’t recommend enough the utterly engrossing novel Church of Marvels by Leslie Perry.
Sherry: I’m trying to keep up with the TBR pile but keep adding to it instead. I just finished Fatal Reservations by Lucy Burdette. It’s the sixth in the Key West Food Critic Mystery series featuring Haley Snow. Come for Key West stay for the adventures with Haley! I’m reading a quirky book right now, Heads You Lose, by Lisa Lutz and David Hayward. It’s a mystery but it also includes the notes of the two writers. So you have not only a mystery to read but a view of how two authors work together. The inside jacket says this: When collaborators Lutz and Hayward — former romantic partners — start to disagree about how the story should unfold, the body count rises, victims and suspects alike develop surprising characteristics (meet Brandy Chester, the stripper with the Mensa IQ), and sibling rivalry reaches homicidal intensity.
Julie:I am rereading get some Elizabeth George in preparation for Crime Bake. Also have many friends books on my TBR pile. Next up is The Longest Yard Sale by Sherry. Tis 
the season to read lots and lots for fun!
Edith: I’m almost done with Leslie Budewitz’s Butter off Dead, which I’m loving. And Fatal Reservations is up next! But I’m also in a huge deadline situation (yes, it’s my turn to be in book jail), so I’m not getting anywhere near as much reading done as I’d like. And summer is slipping away!

I don’t have a TBR pile; I have TBR shelves. Currently I have 2 books from the library. I’m reading “Ripped from the Pages” by Kate Carlisle. “Peaches and Scream” by Susan Furlong will be the road trip book when my vacation starts on Sat. (actually the moment I leave work on Fri.) We took Sherry Harris’ “The Longest Yard Sale” on a road trip a couple of weeks ago and it’s been following us around Ottawa ever since. Certainly hope it behaves at “Magic Mike XXL” tonight. 😉

The sequel to Magic Mike. 🙂 Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer and several other guys are male strippers. Tatum really did work as a stripper but probably for less time than it took to make the movie(s).
I always have a few books going at the same time. This week I am reading The Enchanted April by Elizabeth Von Arnim; Between You and Me: Confessions of a Comma Queen by Mary Norris, and All The Wrong Places by Lisa Lieberman. I met Lisa this year at Malice and I am enjoying her book immensely. The Mary Norris one is a great book especially for writers or those who want a behind the scenes peek at The New Yorker. I have owned The Enchanted April book since forever and enjoy the movie so much I need to watch it at least once a year. The book is simply lovely.

Barb here, chiming in late because I thought this week had two Tuesdays. (I wish it did. I spent the first one getting a root canal and temporary crown.)
I was on vacation last week, almost completely unplugged from the interwebs and reading like crazy. I read Paul Doiron’s marvelous The Precipice, about a search and recovery and murder mystery on the Appalachian trail in Maine. I love the Mike Bowditch mysteries and think this is the best one yet.
I read two of Craig Johnson’s Longmires. One more and I am caught up to the series. I love it when that happens.
And I read Lea Wait’s Twisted Threads. It’s a little grittier than your average cozy. Great writing, setting and characters made it a winner in my book.
Right now, I am reading Killer Jam by Karen MacInerney and listening to The Weed that Strings the Hangman’s Bag by Alan Bradley. One’s an eARC and the other’s via my library’s Overdrive subscription, so both are on my phone right now.
Up next, I’ll be started on my August Berkley books, including Fudging the Books by Daryl Wood Gerber, Crushed Velvet by Diane Vallere, and Malice at the Palace by Rhys Bowen.
As far as a new to me author, earlier this month, I was reading Murder on the Bucket List by father/daughter team Elizabeth Perona. I loved it!
Sherry, I read “Heads You Lose” and enjoyed it. The comments and growing tension between Lisa Lutz and David Hayward, the collaborators, was almost as good as the murder mystery. On my TBR list is “The Longest Yard Sale.”
I was so laughing so hard last night I had to read some of it out loud to Bob!
I loved the emails back and forth between the two more than the mystery part of the book itself. So incredibly funny.
