Wicked Wednesday: Fun Goals for 2018

Wicked Wednesday! This month is a renewal month for many of us, so on Wednesdays we’re going to talk about goals of all sorts. Today the Wickeds weigh in on their fun goals for 2018!

Jessie: I am planning to start a podcast with one of my sons. It is an entirely new arena for me and I am really looking forward to it! We already have a theme, a name and some topics planned so I look forward to getting it underway before the year is out.

Edith: My goal is to spend regular time with my cherished young friends, Miss B and Mr. J. Because nothing is more fun than laughing with children (who, without asking my permission, are rapidly getting older, and threatening to get taller than me month by month).

Liz: I’m going to plan a trip this year – somewhere I want to go, when I feel like going. Usually I plan around other people, which often means my plans are edited or cancelled altogether. This year, I’m doing something for myself.

Julie: I am going to paint, with water colors. I have heretofore no known skills as a visual artist, but I have a niece who is very talented, and she’s inspiring me to try and develop my skills. I’ve realized over the years that many artistic or craft endeavors take practice, and that by quitting too soon I am short changing myself. Looking forward to exploring this side of myself.

Barb: Usually I do set goals in January, which is both the new year and my birthday month. But this year I have both a book and a novella due February 1–so I am going to kick the can down the road a little. 2017 was a busy year for me. I told at least half a dozen people, “Now that I’m in Maine, let’s get together for lunch (coffee, dinner, drinks, dessert).” I didn’t do it. Not a one. So this year, I am definitely doing that.

Sherry: My goal is much like Barb’s. I want to spend more time with friends going on adventures. My husband just took a class for his job that said laughter releases the same endorphins as running. So I plan on laughing a lot this year!

And you, dear readers, what is your fun goal for 2018?

23 Thoughts

  1. I would like to clear a chunk of my ever increasing TBR pile (err but please don’t stop writing ladies!) and my ever increasing WIP craft pile – so err reading and crafting 🙂

  2. IF I can find volunteers to staff the shelter AND catch up with the 5674 emails, I can tackle the several hundred ebooks and the several thousand books that are impatiently awaiting me.

  3. I want to travel more. I’ve gotten out of the travel family because of family responsibilities over the last several years. This is the year I want to change that.

    1. More time in Ireland sounds like a resolution for fun, but cleaning out a house to sell–take it from me who did three last year and has one more to go this year–not fun.

  4. To spend more time wiith my husband now that he is retired. It’s hard for me to do a lot of things due to chronic lower back pain but I’m going to try. I also want to keep better track of the books I read for the book challenges that I have signed up for. I also need to be more organized, less cluttered around the house. Thank you for this chance. pgenest57(at)aol(dot)com

    1. It is very admirable that you want to spend more time with your husband now that he is retired. Many people want to find a way to spend less 🙂

  5. I haven’t really thought about goals for this year yet, but one of them will be to get my 1942 mystery finished. A critique parnter has given me the perfect description: “Rosie the Riveter meets Sam Spade.”

  6. Declutter…at least a little each week! We don’t want the kids to have to do it as we did for our parents after they left us. But as you all know it is a BIG job!

  7. My goal for this year is to have something worth putting on our Christmas card. Last year, we didn’t go anywhere or do anything exciting. This year we are taking at least one trip, and we are going to get into shape together. And, of course, read.

  8. I did really well with my resolution for last year so I’m keeping it again this year. 🙂

My New Year Resolution is to eat healthier – work towards becoming my ideal weight (not from a chart but what makes me feel and look better), to enjoy life as a family whether it’s taking trips, doing chores or playing games but to just enjoy working and playing together, and to live life – to be a participant and not a spectator. I am looking forward to 2018 as I reflect on 2017!

I am adding to spend more time doing what I really enjoy, to have some ME time – which is reading great books.

  9. I’m not even sure what my year will look like at all. But coming up with a fun goal sounds like a great idea. I’ll have to work on that.

    1. Do it, Mark! It’s important to have fun regardless of whatever else is going on. I think maybe your Mud Runs in June are just the ticket.

  10. Like others have mentioned here…I hope to get things sorted and declutter our home. And, I want to continue to read lots and lots and lots of books!
