Spring is in the air and it’s a great time to sit out in the sun and read. Wickeds, what are you reading or what are you looking forward to reading?
Edith: Last week I picked up several new releases I’d ordered from my local independent bookstore. What a treat to have a stack of great books – written by friends – to read!
Barb: Edith, I’m reading Scot Free, too. We must discuss.
Liz: Scot Free is on my list too! I’ve been writing so much this winter that I’ve barely had time to read anything, so I’m planning on catching up on my pile once I turn in my next book on May 1. Finishing up The Snowman, then will tackle The Handmaid’s Tale, Walter Mosley’s Little Green (in prep for Crime Bake!) and I just picked up Turning Pro by Steven Pressfield, who wrote The War of Art.
Jessie: I am hard in the last throes of a double deadline so I am reading Wine Spectator magazine and collections of Agatha Christie short stories. After June 4 I will be reading The Grave’s a Fine and Private Place by Alan Bradley and The Dark Angel by Elly Griffiths.
Sherry: I just finished two amazing books. The Night of the Flood — an Anthology in Stories edited by E.A. Aymar and Sarah M. Chen — each story is an hour on the night of the flood. The whole concept of the anthology intrigued me and it surpassed all of my high expectations. Oh, and The Daughters part in the anthology — fascinating. The second book is The Dangerous Edge of Things by Tina Whittle. I could not put this book down and I’m now in the throes of trying to decide whether to power through the series one after the other or savor the books. I’m looking forward to reading The Bad Break by Jill Orr and Scot Free.
Readers: What are you reading or looking forward to reading?
Finished Bladesong by Jean Gill last night. Am midway through both Oh and That’s Another Thing by Fallacious Rose and The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency byAlexander McCall Smith.
I am not good at reading two books at once. I occasionally read a nonfiction and fiction at the same time.
One on the computer, one by the bedside, one in my tote bag.
Scot Free and The Dark Angel are on my library list – I’m 9th in line for Elly Griffiths. I’m also waiting for a new one by Heather Graham and a new one by Kay Hooper. and as usual books by the Wickeds are also on my list.

Right now I’m reading an ARC of Alter Ego by Brian Freeman. I love Scot Free. Sherry knows how I feel about Tina’s work. I would read the books now. She has a new novella coming out soon. Jill Orr’s book is great. Elly’s book is next on my list.

I’m waiting on Scot Free to buy my copy at Malice. In the meantime, I’ve been working my way through Elaine Viets’ Dead End Jobs series, just started Anne Perry’s first book in a new series featuring the son of Charlotte and Thomas Pitt as the amateur sleuth, and am reading James Comey’s book, which is proving unexpectedly interesting on the law enforcement front.
Oh, very interesting!
Those of you with Scot Free ahead of you are in for a real treat. That book was simply so much fun! Jill Orr’s follow-up rewards readers who enjoyed the first in the series. I am finishing up the second in Kristen Lepionka’s PI series – wow is all I can say. Then it is on to Alex Segura’s new one.

I just finished Tina Whittle’s most recent, Necessary Ends, and have on my bedside table Naomi Hirahara’s Hiroshima Boy, Jeff Siger’s Aegean April and the biography of Shirley Jackson, A Rather Haunted Life. Decisions, decisions! Plus Malice right ahead where I will pick up Scot Free, Mariah Frederick’s new A Death of No Importance and who knows what else. Plus the library is holding a few for me. I’m secure in good reading for awhile!
Also just read Pete Lovesey’s Beau Death, a traditional yet unusual English mystery by a master.

Just starting Bear Witness to Murder by Meg Macy from Netgalley, and have two more on my shelf that I’m excited to read…Death of a Russian Doll by Barbara Early and Mardi Gras Murder by Ellen Byron.
They are all amazing writers!
I’ve been fighting some issues that have affected my concentration, but I recently read a biography of Thomas Merton. Next on the list is the first Detective Byron novel by Bruce Robert Coffin, unless I decide to let FICTION IS MURDER line-jump.

I’m currently reading A Date with Murder, the newest Murder, She Wrote tie in. And this is my first time reading one of the Murder, She Wrote books. I’m really enjoying it.
I’m not completely sure what is up after that. Most likely The Art of Vanishing by Cynthia Kuhn. However, Carlene O’Neil’s Hair of the Dog and D. E. Ireland’s With a Little Bit of Blood may both jump in line first. Plus I’ve got Nadine Nettleman’s Pair a Deception and the new Women’s Murder Club book from James Patterson on deck.
Seriously, I need more time to read. Lots more time.

I picked up my autographed copy of Scot Free at Left Coast Crime. It’s funny and quirky. Loved it. Only 51 weeks to go to #2. Currently listening to Camel Club, again, and reading Bruce Robert Coffin’s Beneath the Depth.
I loved the Camel Club series and Bruce’s books are amazing!
I’m reading Silver Lining by Jerusha Jones #4 in her Tin Can Mystery series and Scott Free & Nun After the Other are next on my list.
