Jessie: In New Hampshire experiencing an uncharacteristic loss of words

Sometimes the only thing to offer is a quiet place for the eye, and the heart, to rest for a moment. Instead of posting a more typical blog today I asked my family to send me photos they had taken of things they consider cheering or beautiful to share with you. Despite the social distancing, please consider yourselves all hugged.

Readers, how about if you tell us all something that brings you peace or a sense of hopefulness or something for which you feel grateful.

  1. Music inspires me and calms me. One group I really love is Celtic Thunder. They perform Trad. Celtic, cover contemporary songs, sing original compositions, and inspire with songs of worship and praise. This is one of my favorite recordings by them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qni5bIN5qmU

  2. These are lovely, Jessie! Thank you. Gazing at my huge rhododendrons in bloom right now makes me happy, as well as the showy blossoms on the clematis I planted six years ago. And seeing my baby vegetables thrive and grow.

  3. Waking up and seeing my husband’s face brings me peace. Love that man and another day being able to share it with him is pure happiness. Watching our 15 year old chihuahua sleeping (which is seems to do all the time any more) makes me happy and grateful that we still have him – old age grumpiness and all. Photography brings me peace. To get out in nature, to sit – listen – watch God’s critters never gets old. When I’m tired, in pain or restless, I can go sit on the porch with my camera and peace engulfs me and time flies by. Seeing the first garden we have had in several years blooming and putting on vegetables makes me happy with anticipation.

  4. What a beautiful collection of photos, Jessie.

There are squirrels chasing each other around a tree. A bright red cardinal has come to visit for several days. A pileated woodpecker (man those things are big) must live nearby because he comes to visit the bird feeder each day (and unfortunately chases off the other birds). My dog is sleeping near me with his snoot tucked under his legs to keep it warm.

  5. Thank you, Jessie. My family is healthy and we have more squirrels in our yard then I can count. They’re so much fun to watch. 🙂

  6. As of today, my baby is officially a middle schooler! She’s my pride and joy and the kindness with which she treats others gives me hope for the future.

  7. Thank you for sharing the pictures. The dog in your pictures makes me happy. He/she is adorable! My dog also keeps me happy and calm. I also love music…contemporary Christian music especially makes me calm and hopeful. That’s why I listen to it when I drive…

  8. The flowers I planted a couple months ago are really blooming right now. Hopefully, it will last, although I expect the heat to claim them soon.

  9. Thank you for all the beautiful, peaceful pictures. Listening to all the birds in my yard, watching the squirrels and chipmunks play, enjoying the beauty of my back yard, and the joy of having my loving hubby around all the time. Outside of my own personal joy, I came across a neighbor’s graduation “party” – outdoors, social distancing being practiced. Don’t know the people, but gave a big honking tribute as I drove past. I waved, they waved, and I drove on with a huge smile on my face.
