Wicked Authors Retreat 2023 and a #giveaway

The Wicked Authors held their 2023 retreat last weekend at the Quaker Retreat House on Cape Cod where Edith does her solo retreats. A good and productive time was had by all. We wrote, we ate, we drank, we did some bloggy business, and we talked and talked and talked about the craft of writing, the publishing industry, our career ambitions, and what we want to write next.

And, of course, we talked about the blog. Look for some exciting updates and additions starting late this summer.

There are photos and captions below and a giveaway for one lucky commenter at the end.

The House
So Cape Cod. I love this photo.
The osprey nest
The beach
The food theme this year was charcuterie
The snack table
Eating. (A fairly typical photo.)
Of course, it wasn’t all fun and games. Here we are in our business meeting, with Sherry on Zoom since she wasn’t about to make it at the last minute.
Working hard
And there was cake to celebrate our tenth anniversary, which we’ve been celebrating with you all month.
Our attempt to share the cake with Sherry.

Readers: What are some updates, additions, and changes you’d like to see on the Wicked Authors blog? Comment to win a map of fictional Busman’s Harbor, Maine and the two most recent Clambake Mysteries.

  1. Thanks for sharing photos from your business retreat. I like what you’ve done with the blog. Looking forward to your changes – hopefully not drastic.

    1. Congrats on 10 years. I love the blog. Can’t wait to see what’s coming.

  2. Geez, I can’t think of any changes that could be made! I like to read the interviews with other authors, because it helps me to find new books, and I like to read about your adventures. And, of course, the giveaways lol!

  3. How can you fix perfection? Seriously if it’s not broke – don’t fix it. Love everything you do to bring us fabulous books, allowing us to get to know you all a bit better and even fun contest where we can win awesome prizes. Keep doing what you do so well! <3

  4. What a great location! I love the blog as it is. My only suggestion would be more group posts. I love the round-robin view.

  5. I enjoy reading the blog and seeing the photos you often include that set the tone and mood of the stories. Particularly enjoy reading how you all work at your craft, do your onsite research and retreat from the world to write. Keep doing what you’re doing – it’s great!

  6. I like the blog as it is, too. I can’t think of anything to improve it. I enjoy the adventures you ladies have. And the giveaways.

  7. How exciting!!! Who said that work could not be fun? Friends, you deserve every bit of celebrating! I celebrate you in my mind every day when I am traveling in your worlds and trying to solve your mysteries! Y’all do know how to put on a delicious spread! Your charcuterie delicacies look awesome! Your photos made me long for the East Coast, where I lived for about 3 years, and I still remember the green and the water…somehow the snow is never present 🙂 If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I love your blog, and can’t offer any ideas for changes. Stay Calm, and Keep Entertaining us! (I have the map, so please do send it to another lucky reader) luis at ole dot travel

  8. That’s hard, I like it how it is now. Getting the “behind-the-scenes” of your current inspiration, research, and writing. Being introduced to new authors I may not have otherwise found. Maybe if anything, a recipe now and then, since some of you have books that include them. Or otherwise facts, history, crafts, something pertaining to the book’s theme?

  9. Wonderful photos and extraordinary blog filled with great features. Love everything there. Enjoy every visit.

  10. I don’t know if I would change anything about your blog. I enjoy it immensely just as it is now! On another topic, I did not know that there was a map of the fictional Busman’s Harbor, and I would be VERY interested in seeing it! Is there a place where all of your readers can get a glimpse of it?

  11. I enjoy the blog as is but would love recipes and maybe more pictures. Really fun reading.

  12. Looks like a fun time. I’m not sure what I would tweak about the blog, but I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ve come up with. (And now you’ve given me suspense wondering what will happen next. It’s natural that you’re writers.)

(No need to enter me in the giveaway.)

  13. I love it the way it is. I enjoy learning of new (to me) authors, and the background of where your ideas come from. I’m not keen on the genre hopping, but that is just my personal opinion and I’m sure most readers love it. I also really enjoy all the pictures. They make me feel a part of the Wickeds family. I already have the wonderful map (stuck on the wall right next to me) and the books.

  14. I love the diversity of topics covered in the blog.
I guess, if I had to come up with a suggestion, I would say include games. Crossword puzzle, jigsaw, spot the differences are all fun.

  15. A very special site. Background of the books, travels, and interviews. A captivating blog that brings me enjoyment.

  16. Thanks for sharing all the cool photos of your retreat. No major changes because I enjoy this blog, but a small change could be to have a recipe of the week spotlight. I am a foodie, so I love to try new recipes and food related ideas.

  17. Happy 10th anniversary! I love your blog…it’s one of the few I try to read every day. I am looking forward to seeing what changes you are making…I hope nothing drastic! Thank you all for all the hours of enjoyment you all have given me from reading your books and your blog posts!

  18. Looks like a beautiful place for a retreat. Looks like everyone one had a great time. I think the blog is good the way it is and I’m sure any changes or additions you make will be amazing. Congratulations on 10 years.

  19. The name of your blog implies you read and giveaway any type of book but at least to me I think you stay with the mild kind. I think if that is the way you are going to stay then you need to change the name of your blog as I look for books with heat 3+ and up too.
    Congrats on 10 years

  20. I love the blog the way it is. I so enjoy checking in daily. Of course, the giveaways are always fun. Congrats on 10 years! 🥳🎉

  21. This sounds like you all had a great time!!! I love seeing the photos and that is a great part of the blog ❤️

  22. I love the blog just the way you have made it. I cannot think of anything that you wonderful ladies could do differently. Thank you so much for sharing your retreat. God bless you.

  23. Delightful! Thanks for sharing the photos and insights on your special retreat. It’s fun to do a bit of virtual travel. <3 Keep 'em coming.
