After Crime Bake, Barb gave little remembrances to the Wickeds, sticky note pads of a outline figure with a bloody pen sticking out of his chest. This seemed like the perfect gift for a group of mystery authors.
Since then, some of us have been having fun finding Dead Fred in various places around our homes and farther afield. Here are some photos of his exploits.
Barb: One of the figures who serve as handles for our kitchen cabinets attempts a climbing rescue of a grievously wounded Dead Fred.Edith: Dead Fred meets his end on the spear of Princess Yenenga, the fierce warrior who founded the land of Upper Volta.Edith: Hooked by the old man and woman who guard our house and our keys. Or maybe he’s just hanging with them…Jessie: Unfortunately, Fred gave the key to his heart to the wrong girl and she gave it back.Sherry: Fred made the mistake of being first in line on Black Friday.Julie: Fred meets the neighbors. Will (Shakespeare) and Tim (Gunn).
Liz: These are hilarious! I’m pleased to report that my Dead Fred is terrorizing my office. I wanted to take a picture of the “crime scene” but HR frowned on sharing that photo…..you’ll all have to use your imagination!

Their heads bobble, so they always agree with one another.

My key/house guards’ heads turn all which way, but they’re always smiling, unlike Will!

Of course they agree. On the push-pull between creating art and entertainment–and the difficulty of dealing with the wardrobe master.
