News Flash: Beth04002 won the three-book giveaway! Beth, congratulations, and please check your email.
Edith/Maddie writing from north of Boston where we are finally getting some much-needed rain.
And I’m doing my happy rain dance, because Deadly Crush releases today!

I love that the Cece Barton Mysteries are now solidly a series, with two books and a novella. In Deadly Crush, we get to know Cece’s support crew better including her twin sister Allie – who is sharing a day in her life over on Dru’s Book Musings today. I also had fun bringing in a lot more about vintage cars, about which I wrote over on Jungle Red Writers last week, and I shared other inspirations for parts of the series on Chicks on the Case.
Cece Barton Book #3 is next up on my schedule to write, and, no, I have no idea of the plot or the story!
But Deadly Crush is also my 35th published book. I have celebrated 34 of those releases right here on the Wicked Authors, starting with A Tine to Live, a Tine to Die back in our first year, 2013. (My first novel, Speaking of Murder, came out in fall of 2012.)

I was delighted to sign TINE after the first of many launch parties to follow at my local independent bookstore, Jabberwocky Bookshop in Newburyport, MA.
If you are anywhere in the Northeast, I hope you’ll join me at Jabberwocky from 5-7 pm on Saturday, December 7 to celebrate the release of Deadly Crush.
One of the things a number of the Wickeds have said to debut authors when they ask for advice is, “Enjoy the ride!” Every finished chapter, every finished book, every release is cause for celebration. This book, despite being my thirty-fifth, is no exception. I have #38 (Murder at Cape Costumers) all buttoned up and ready to send to my editor on its due date of December 1. And there’s always another book to write, another short story to fiendishly devise.
I love my writing life, even when it’s hard, and I plan to break out the bubbly a little later today – heck, maybe even over lunch!
Readers: What’s your favorite way to celebrate a milestone? (Also, any thoughts about what Cece should get up to in the Alexander Valley in June or July?) I’d love to send one of you a three-book hardcover set of the series, with a wine bag thrown in for good measure.

Go to a favorite place.

Happy Release Day Edith!
For those who haven’t read the book, let me say that not only have I already read the book, it is just flat out a great read!
What would CeCe be up to in June or July? Well, July could bring about some kind of wine-related celebration tied to the July 4th holiday. A parade of some sort or a classic car show on the holiday weekend or something like that.
As far as me celebrating a milestone of some sort, I’m pretty basic so a meal of some kind is usually a good idea!

Milestones should be celebrated with loved ones, family and friends, and food! While I don’t know anything about the Alexander Valley, summer in CA can be very hot so a retreat to ocean or mountains could be in order.

Congratulations on #35! Ice cream usually plays a role in my celebrations–book and otherwise. As for Cece’s next adventure . . . I like the suggestion above about the 4th of July. Creepy parade clowns, Shriners in tiny cars, what could possibly go wrong?!

Ooh. I’ll have to check with my editor if they want a 4th of July book – they’re a little particular about timing of books with holidays. But Memorial Day should be no problem!

Happy Release Day, Edith! I have different types of celebrations depending on the series or theme of the book. Sometimes it’s a nice meal; other times it might be a piece of jewelry or treating myself to a new book. I remember, early in my career, when I was commissioned for one of my first audio plays, I bought myself two pairs of shoes I’d had my eye on for months! I still have one of those pairs.
Cece’s next adventure, hmm. Vintage car show set at a vineyard/spa?

I read (and reviewed) an ARC of Deadly Crush. I loved it! I’m not sure what Cece’s new beau does for a living, but maybe he should find himself in a sticky situation and needs help. Cece to the rescue. As for celebrations, if my husband is in residence a day trip is always appreciated. And food and wine. If I’m on my own, food and wine!

Awesome book, but I knew it would be. Love your books! Please keep them coming.
Usually when we celebrate an occasion it’s with food, but not always going out to eat. We live in a very small town with not that many choices for “special” meals. Besides, we are real homebodies. Since we both love cooking/baking, it’s often just fixing something special at home. That might be because ingredients aren’t often found in our pantry or that it takes many steps or a long time to prepare. Other than eating if it’s something really special we are celebrating and since we love photography, we might plan a little getaway to somewhere to take photos – usually of critters in their natural environment. Depending on what season on where we might go too.

Congratulations on the release of DEADLY CRUSH! I’m one of your newer fans, and can’t wait to read this one!
We celebrate milestones two ways, but both involve FOOD (with lots of desserts or sweets). For my husband and my 70th birthdays this year, we headed up to Morro Bay, CA on the CA Central Coast (our favorite place, including where we were married in 2018). For other milestones, we go to restaurants that we think of as “special occasion” places, even those in or near our city.

Thanks so much, and welcome to my fan gang! I love Morro Bay. Hugh and I found a restaurant there about ten years ago with a lovely garden dining room in the back, and it had a stork roosting tree behind it. Such a treat.

Depends on what we are celebrating. Good report cards usually equal a book from the book fair. Milestones equal a special treat. Birthdays equal your choice of supper.

Congratulations on your new release. Happy Thanksgiving. Usually, we go out to a nice dinner or bring one home. CeCe could go to Alexander Valley for a 4th of July family reunion. If not her own family a close friend. Of course, there would be a body involved. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.

Congratulations, the book sounds so incredible! The cover is just gorgeous, too. My favorite milestone-celebration method is travelling or spending time with loved ones. Although, when the social battery is running low, curling up with a good book is just as much of a treat!
