Readers, we discussed what we hope to accomplish when we write each of our novels. What is it that you love to experience when you read a book?

5 Thoughts

  1. For me, I think when I read a book that I want to be able to step into the book (be it a amateur sleuth walking invisibly by the main character or just a bug on the wall) and have all my senses woken up. I want to see what the characters see, feel their emotions, smell and taste the delightful food and hear the slightest sound that might be so important to the storyline. I want to explore your places via my recliner. It’s my desire to be apprehensive when danger lurks, my heart to be full when love is blooming, thrilled when I think I’ve figured out whodunit. In other words, I want to come alive within the pages of the book whether it’s a build up story, a story of lingering hope or one that I’m just compelled to read it in one sitting type book. I start reading each book with expectations of a five star read.

  2. I want a mystery with some humor mixed in. Not too many extraneous characters that make it hard to keep track of who is who. Something that leaves me wanting the next book.

  3. Julia, I’m excited–I didn’t know that your next book was done and coming out in November! I’ll start looking for pre-order possibilities. Jessica, I’ll be “watching this space,” as you suggest. And thanks to both of you for making me look up washi tape, which I had never heard of. I guess it isn’t a big deal in Switzerland yet.

  4. I want to be transported into a new place where I can use my skills to figure out the mystery, enjoy the characters, find out about states and occupations that I have not been to or have been to but seeing in a different light.
