The news is out! Maine Clambake #11, Hidden Beneath, is up on the various retail sites. It will be published June 27, 2023, almost exactly a year after Muddled Through.
Here’s the cover.
I love it and hope you do, too. The title doesn’t show up that well on the retail sites, but all the other elements are perfect. The house beyond the curve in the boardwalk is exactly how I envisioned it. And I love that the little red lobster boat is there. It lurks in the background on most of the Maine Clambake Mystery covers and I am always happy to see it.
About the book
Serving up mouthwatering shellfish, the Snowden Family Clambake has become a beloved institution in Busman’s Harbor, Maine. But when new clues rise to the surface five years after the disappearance of Julia Snowden’ s mother’s friend, the family business shifts to sleuthing . . .
Julia and her mother, Jacqueline, have come to the exclusive summer colony of Chipmunk Island to attend a memorial service for Jacqueline’s old friend Ginny, who’s been officially declared dead half a decade after she went out for her daily swim in the harbor and was never seen again. But something seems fishy at the service—especially with the women of the Wednesday Club. As Julia and Jacqueline begin looking into Ginny’s cold case, a present-day murder stirs the pot, and mother and daughter must dive into the deep end to get to the bottom of both mysteries . . .
I’m very excited about this entry in the Maine Clambake Mystery series and I hope you love it.
You can pre-order Hidden Beneath in the usual places…
- Amazon–mass market paperback
- Amazon–Kindle (pages haven’t been merged yet for some reason)
- Barnes & Noble
- Kobo

I love both! Isn’t it great when the artist continues those little elements over many covers?

The first many covers were by the same artist. Now I can’t find that artist’s name anywhere on the ARCs or books.

Huh. It’s usually on the ARCs. Am off to check my current one…. Nope, not there.

I have a feeling the name of the artist is “a computer.”

Love it!!! I feel like I could walk right on to that cover and stroll that boardwalk! And that chipmunk is the cutest little mascot ever. I look forward to reading it!!

The chipmunk is because the events take place on Chipmunk Island, though I never would have thought of putting one on the cover.

Great cover, Barb. The chipmunk is so adorable!

LOVE IT! From the little chipmunk in the foreground to the curved path and that lovely home that I can envision sitting on the screened in back porch – it all says READ ME. Really like the title too. The only problem with it is knowing that we have to wait until the middle of next year to read it. Another reason I have to practice patients, but I can’t wait to dive into it.

At Kensington they call books that come out at the end of a month by the name of the next month. It’s a whole thing.

Keep ’em coming. Your writing keeps me inspired to plow on with my own book. I hope I finish my project before I run out of Clambake books to read.

CONGRATULATIONS ON “HIDDEN BENEATH”, dear Barbara! Absolutely over the top news I will share with my book club! All your books are brilliantly written! Book covers I love are full of color and there should be an animal, some quirky scenes that would be explained as we read, and series covers should have an element of consistency, like the red lobster boat in the case of your Maine Clambake Mysteries. just by looking at the cover of this new book prompted me immediately to preorder it…now the waiting time starts…:-) Luis at ole dot travel

I like covers with lots of detail and color – yours are always wonderful. Your titles are always clever – I never understood the appeal of one word titles that seem to be so popular today. There’s no imagination or substance to them. Can’t wait for the new book – my favorite series of all!

Love the cover for all the reasons everyone else has given. And, even tho’ I know she wasn’t named after me, I appreciate the friend’s name being Ginny. Almost nobody ever uses that name in books. Will be pre-ordering the book from my indie bookstore, Aaron’s, as soon as they open.

There were Ginnys in my mother’s generation, and also in mine. Though my friend next door was called Ginger.
